Is it addictive?

Is food addictive?
Short answer, no.
Long answer…
There have been similarities between eating disorders (like binge eating) and addictions. Does this mean food is addictive if you think you have a problem with it yourself? Not really.

The access to hyper-palatable, calorie dense food may be a reason people believe food may be addictive. In a study done on rats, the rats had displayed binge eating similar to that of people when their diet consisted of what they called “sweet-fat” food.
These rats overate what tasted good and were able to self-regulate when they had normal food.
